Has a degree in Law and holds Post-Graduations in IP and Competition Law, Genetics and Law and in Pharmaceutical Law. Began his career as a Legal Adviser for IP at TecMinho and as Manager of the University of Minho IP Office. Later, he joined Clarke, Modet & Co, a multinational IP consultancy company, where he opened and managed the company’s office at Oporto, being also responsible for Clarke, Modet & Co - Portugal Marketing Department. In 2007, appointed Patent and Trademark Attorney. In 2009, he joined COTEC-Portugal, a non-profit association representing the top 100 Portuguese companies, where he worked as IP Manager. In 2010, appointed Vice-President of INPI (Portuguese Industrial Property Institute). Member of the Administrative Council of the European Patent Office and of the Administrative Board of the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market. Member of the Supervisory Board of the European Patent Academy (European Patent Office). Frequently invited to lecture IP at Portuguese (e.g. EGP-UPBS, UNL, ISEG, IPL) and Foreign Universities (e.g. University Federal de Minas Gerais, Università degli Studi di Sassari, Università degli Studi di Verona).
