LL.M. in European and Transglobal Business Law

We have designed this new LL.M programme to reflect the modern business context and to give professionals a solid grasp of the theory and practice of the implications of the global marketplace.

The LL.M. programme will enable students to better develop and implement legal strategies in major organisations. The programme offers a unique and innovative blend of core legal subjects ranging from European Union business law to the legal aspects of investment in emerging economies with which Portugal has historic and cultural ties, giving the programme a truly transglobal dimension. In addition to the core curriculum, students will have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of specialized seminars, allowing them to tailor their studies to their interests.


Master Course in Human Rights

The Masters Course in Human Rights is designed to offer students a solid and interdisciplinary training in the field of human rights protection, by providing a broad theoretical and normative framework, both at international (global and regional) and domestic levels. The study plan includes mandatory courses on the foundations and meaning of international human rights law and on the different frameworks for human rights protection (UN, CoE, EU, AU, etc.) and domestic legal frameworks for fundamental rights protection. The study plan also includes a range of optional courses covering topical subjects of Human Rights Law, such as migration and asylum, Bioethics, cultural diversity and minority rights, International Humanitarian Law, conflict prevention and peacekeeping.

The Master Programme in Human Rights opens its graduates a vast range of professional opportunities, be it as advisers to State agencies, international organizations or NGOs, or as academics in Portugal or abroad.


Masters Course in Children, Family and Inheritance Law

The Masters Course in Children’s, Family and Succession Law aims to enable law graduates to acquire a solid training that enables them to deal with problems related to children’s rights and property issues relating to family and succession law. The program of this Master's includes a multidisciplinary and practical approach, where matters from the various aspects of law are discussed, either in Public or Private Law, as well as in the General Legal Sciences and other areas.


Masters Course in Judiciary Law

The Masters Course in Judiciary Law (procedural rights and judicial organization) intends to grant law graduates specific skills for the access and/or the exercise of forensic professions, and, therefore, the domain of procedural rights and the knowledge of judicial organization is relevant. The course is essentially based on the study of the different branches of procedural law, jurisdiction and its grounds, as well as the organization and functioning of the courts. The masters in Judiciary Law will be qualified to practice the various procedural branches of judicial organization and argumentative techniques, to identify and describe the models of judicial organization, to understand procedural rights, as well as to develop argumentation and rhetoric techniques.


Masters Course in European Union Law

The Masters Course in European Union Law makes it possible to understand the relationships of interdependence and articulation between the European Union and the Member States legal systems, as well as the understanding of the essential instruments of the European Union material and procedural law. This Course responds to the need to deepen and disseminate the legal culture of European integration, creating conditions so that, from an administrative and judicial perspective, Portuguese legal agents and operators become familiar with the needs imposed by the growing presence of European Union law in the daily life of our institutions and courts.


Masters Course in Contract and Company Law

The Masters Course in Contract and Company Law aims to grant law graduates a solid theoretical background and consistent practical training. Masters in Contract and Company Law are, on the other hand, qualified to continue their studies to obtain higher academic degrees, to contribute to a better organization and functioning of companies at the legal level and to exercise the forensic professions with more quality in this domain.


Masters Course in Tax Law

The Masters Course in Tax Law aims to give law graduates a solid theoretical background and consistent practical training, based on high standards of demand. Such training will allow, among other possibilities, the exercise of academic activity, the integration into senior corporate staff or the exercise of forensic activity and consultancy, besides enabling a convenient preparation with a view to entering or progressing in the judiciary or in public administrative areas, namely in the tax administration.


Masters Course in Administrative Law

The Masters Course in Administrative Law intends to grant Law Graduates a solid theoretical and practical training that will allow the exercise of academic activity, the integration into Public Administration staff or the exercise of forensic activity. The Law School demonstrates, in this way, to be attentive to several realities in connection with the classic themes and special dimensions of administrative law, to the paradigm changes that affect certain areas of administrative knowledge, as well as the domain of administrative procedural guarantees.

The Masters in Administrative Law are qualified to continue their studies to obtain higher education degrees and to exercise legal functions.


Masters Course in Law and Informatics

The Masters Course in Law and Informatics, the only one at national level, is of great interest, offering an integrated approach to informatic and legal matters. This course is fundamental for the analysis of the legal issues inherent to the new communication and work processes by telematic means, which are very useful for professionals, whether they are lawyers, magistrates, notaries, conservatives, information society professionals or other professionals connected to companies and technological areas.


Masters Course in Criminal Sciences (Criminal Justice and Criminology)

The Masters Course in Criminal Sciences (Criminal Justice and Criminology) aims to provide solid postgraduate training to those who intend to devote themselves, in particular, to criminal sciences, both in a typical legal-criminal aspect, as well as in a criminological aspect, thus responding to the needs of graduates in Law, Criminology or other related areas, such as Police Sciences, who wish to continue their studies. Therefore, the Course is both comprehensive and focused. Likewise, the master's dissertation may also be presented in any of the areas, thus helping to develop the criminal sciences.
